How It Works

This game challenges your ability to detect patterns and abstract rules from examples. Unlike verbal reasoning or mathematical knowledge tests, Coded Reasoning focuses on pure logical pattern recognition. You must observe the relationship between inputs and outputs, identify the underlying transformation rule, and then apply that rule consistently to solve new problems. The game tests fluid intelligence through rule abstraction, working memory integration, cognitive flexibility, and resistance to rule interference.

Step-by-step Instructions

  • Observe the example input-output pairs displayed sequentially
  • Each example shows an input sequence transformed into an output sequence
  • Identify the pattern or rule that transforms the input to output
  • After studying all examples, a question will appear with an input sequence
  • Apply the same transformation rule to determine the correct output
  • Type your answer in the input field and click 'Submit Answer'
  • You can also press Enter to submit your answer
  • Respond within the time limit to score points
