Objective
Memorize information displayed briefly on screen, then accurately recall it when prompted. You'll face two types of challenges: sequences (numbers/letters) and aircraft information (call signs, flight levels, headings).
How It Works
This game challenges your short-term memory capacity by requiring you to quickly encode, store, and retrieve information. The dual format (sequences and aircraft information) tests different aspects of memory: sequences test your ability to remember ordered information, while aircraft information tests your ability to associate multiple pieces of data with specific items. The time pressure and increasing complexity evaluate not just memory capacity, but your ability to maintain accuracy while working quickly - a critical skill for air traffic controllers who must remember multiple pieces of information simultaneously.
Step-by-step Instructions
- Watch carefully as information is displayed on screen for a brief period
- The information will disappear after the display time ends
- Two types of information may appear:
- - Sequences: A series of numbers and/or letters (e.g., '7-3-9-2-8' or 'K-F-4-T-9')
- - Aircraft Information: Multiple aircraft with call signs, flight levels, and headings
- After the information disappears, a question will appear
- For sequences, you may be asked to recall the full sequence or a specific character position
- For aircraft information, you'll be asked about a specific aircraft's flight level or heading
- Type your answer in the input field and click 'Submit Answer' or press Enter
- Respond within the time limit to score points
Skills You Develop
- Short-term memory capacity
- Rapid information encoding
- Accurate information retrieval under time pressure
- Working memory for sequences
- Associative memory for multiple data points
- Attention to detail during brief displays
- Resistance to interference
- Memory consolidation speed
Coaching Tips
- Focus intently during the display period - you only have a short time to encode the information
- For sequences, try to create patterns or chunks to help remember the order
- For aircraft information, associate each piece of data with the call sign
- Use verbal rehearsal - mentally repeat the information as you see it
- Don't panic if you don't remember everything - focus on what you do remember
- Develop a systematic approach: scan all information first, then focus on details
- Practice maintaining focus throughout the entire display period
- Use the visual feedback after each round to learn from your mistakes
- For sequence questions about specific positions, count carefully from the beginning
- For aircraft questions, quickly identify which aircraft the question is about before recalling the information
