Preview: Watch Memory Competence in Action

Objective

Watch carefully as boxes illuminate in a specific sequence, then recall and click on them in the exact same order.

How It Works

This game tests working memory by requiring you to maintain and recall a sequence of visual signals. As you observe boxes lighting up, you must encode their positions and order in your memory, then accurately reproduce that sequence by clicking on each box in turn. The game becomes increasingly challenging with longer sequences and faster signal speeds.

Step-by-step Instructions

  • Observe a grid of 9 boxes arranged in a 3×3 pattern
  • Pay close attention as certain boxes light up one after another
  • Remember the exact sequence of boxes that illuminate
  • When prompted, click on each box in the same order they lit up
  • Complete the entire sequence correctly to advance to the next round
  • If you click on a wrong box or run out of time, the round ends

Skills You Develop

  • Sequential visual memory
  • Working memory capacity
  • Attention to visual patterns
  • Spatial memory
  • Concentration under time pressure
  • Response accuracy

Coaching Tips

  • Try to create a mental map of the sequence as you observe it
  • Use verbal encoding by assigning numbers or coordinates to each box
  • Focus on creating groups or chunks within longer sequences
  • Establish a rhythm to help remember the timing between signals
  • Practice tracking the sequence without moving your eyes too much
  • Take a moment to review the full sequence in your mind before you start clicking
