Perform two different tasks simultaneously: identify whether patterns in two tables match and solve math equations that appear periodically.
This game tests divided attention by requiring you to monitor two separate tasks simultaneously. You must maintain awareness of the table patterns while processing math equations that appear periodically. The difficulty increases with more complex patterns, more difficult math problems, and shorter response times.
The task
- Observe the two tables filled with colored squares on both sides of the screen
- Press the MATCH button if both tables show identical patterns, or wait for the pattern to change if they differ
- While monitoring the tables, math equations will appear in the center of the screen
- Quickly evaluate if the math equation is correct by pressing MATH TASK CORRECT or incorrect by pressing MATH TASK INCORRECT
- Respond to both tasks within their respective time limits to score points
Priorities
- Develop a scanning technique to quickly compare the two tables
- When comparing tables, look for differences rather than trying to memorize the entire pattern
- Prioritize the table patterns as they have higher importance for scoring
- Position your hands to easily reach all three buttons
- Try to develop a rhythm of checking tables, then math, then tables again
- Practice mental math to improve your response time to equations
