What is the NATS Preparation Suite?

It is independent browser practice for NATS trainee recruitment in the United Kingdom. Timed ability modules and a leaderboard are included. This is not an official NATS test and it is not affiliated with NATS.

What does Monitoring Ability train?

Perceptual speed and accuracy under a running clock. You count moving balls, answer quickly, and the task gets harder after each correct count. Later levels start further up the difficulty ladder and remove the pause between answers.

What does Ability to Concentrate train?

Sustained attention to a small detail. A figure appears with marks on a ring. Press one key only when it is an E with exactly three marks, and the other key for everything else. The clock runs up from zero until the set is finished.

What does Inductive Reasoning train?

Finding the rule behind two grids, then choosing the two other grids that follow it. Each question is one round. Mirrors, turns, and shifting patterns show up as the questions get harder, and a confirmed answer cannot be changed.

What does Grid Deduction train?

Placing a symbol so that each one appears once in every row and every column. You choose the symbol for the marked cell. Each grid is one round.

What does Listening Comprehension train?

Keeping spoken facts after one hearing. A clip plays once, then you answer questions about the numbers, names, places, times, and statements in that recording. The clips are conversations, lectures, and discussions. This is practice for the NATS Stage 2 listening test. NATS does not publish the live clip count or whether a replay is allowed. Follow the Aon instructions on the day if they differ.

What does Spatial Orientation train?

Reading a gyro heading and a relative bearing, then placing the aircraft in the correct zone around a ground station. The direction letter comes from the gyro. The zone comes from turning the RBI angle onto a north-up compass and taking the opposite side of the needle.

Is this the official NATS assessment?

No. NATS runs its own ability tests. This suite is original practice for that kind of work. Follow the instructions in your recruitment email if they differ from anything here.
