Introduction
Ability to Concentrate is a Stage 1 module in the NATS Preparation Suite. Figures appear one after another on a ring of marks. You sort every figure, and only one combination is the target.
The task
The figure is an E, a 6, or a 9. Marks sit on the ring and can be anywhere around it. Press D when the figure is an E and the ring has exactly three marks. Press A for a 6, a 9, or an E with any other number of marks. Both keys are answers. Leaving a figure too long counts as wrong.
The clock for the set runs up from zero until the questions are finished. A level may pause briefly after each figure, or start the next one as soon as you answer.
An E with the wrong number of marks is the case you have to reject on purpose. The marks can sit close to the target count.

Priorities
Count the marks before you name the figure, or name the figure before you count. Either order works if you do both. The figure that looks like an E is the trap when the count is off, and a 6 with the target number of marks is the trap when you only counted. Keep a steady pace across the set. One late figure is already wrong, and the clock does not stop for it.
The in-module walkthrough shows an E with three marks and a 6 with three marks before the set starts. Symbol Match, Monitoring Ability, and Inductive Reasoning are other Stage 1 modules in the suite. A broader overview is available in NATS Test Explained.
