UPS Airlines Flight 2976 Crashes After Takeoff from Louisville

A UPS cargo aircraft crashed shortly after departure from Louisville, causing multiple fatalities and injuries on the ground.
On November 4, 2025, UPS Airlines Flight 2976, a McDonnell Douglas MD-11F freighter, crashed minutes after taking off from Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport en route to Honolulu. The aircraft, carrying three crew members, experienced an engine fire shortly after departure, then lost control and impacted an industrial zone near the airport. All three crew members and at least four people on the ground were killed, with eleven others injured. Fires broke out in nearby facilities, and the airport temporarily suspended operations. The NTSB and FAA are investigating the crash, focusing on possible engine separation, structural failure, and why the aircraft did not sustain flight despite being a three-engine freighter. No official cause has been released yet.
