Introduction
Distinguish Left and Right is a perspective-taking module in the FEAST Preparation Suite. Each round shows a person and several red shapes. You answer Left or Right from the person’s point of view.
The task
Read the question first. It may ask where a named shape is, which side does not contain that shape, or where the main object is. Find the relevant object, adopt the figure’s viewpoint, then choose Left or Right. You can click the buttons or use the left and right arrow keys. A and D work as well.
When you see the figure’s back, its left and right match the sides of the screen. When the figure faces you, they are reversed: an object on your right is on the figure’s left. A sideways figure has to be read in the direction it faces. The figure may also appear upside down, so use its full orientation rather than relying on screen position alone.
Other shapes may be placed around the figure as distractions. Keep the wording of the question in mind while you search so that a visible but irrelevant shape does not determine your answer. Difficulty runs from EASY, through Medium and Hard, to TEST, and the same perspective rule applies throughout.

Priorities
Fix the figure’s orientation before looking for the answer. Then read the wording literally, especially when it says “does NOT have.” Do not use a memorised rule such as “screen right means Left” without first checking whether you see the face, the back, or a sideways view. On upside-down rounds, mentally turn the whole figure upright before deciding.
The in-module walkthrough demonstrates front, back, sideways, and negative questions before the timed exercise. Detect Conflicts, Cube Folding, and Estimate Distances and Directions are other FEAST I modules in the suite. A broader overview is available in FEAST Modules Explained.
