Introduction
Detect Conflicts is a visual-scanning module in the FEAST Preparation Suite. A set of triangular aircraft symbols appears on a grid. Your job is to decide whether two of them form the head-on pattern named before the round begins.
The task
Before the symbols appear, the instruction tells you to look for horizontal conflicts, vertical conflicts, or both. A horizontal conflict is a pair on the same row, one pointing right and the other left. A vertical conflict is a pair in the same column, one pointing down and the other up. The triangles do not move. Their points show the direction in which they are heading.
Press CONFLICT as soon as you find a valid pair. If there is no valid pair, leave the button alone and let the round expire. Clicking for a near-match is a false alarm, while doing nothing when a valid pair is present is a miss. There is no separate “no conflict” button.
A round may ask for horizontal conflicts, vertical conflicts, or both. The number and placement of symbols can vary, but the definition of a valid conflict does not change. Difficulty runs from EASY, through Medium and Hard, to TEST.

Priorities
Read the instruction before scanning. A convincing vertical pair is irrelevant in a horizontal-only round. Check alignment first, then direction. This quickly removes pairs that point toward each other but sit on different rows or columns. Sweep the whole board in a fixed order rather than repeatedly returning to the most noticeable symbols, and resist clicking simply because the timer is nearly over.
The in-module walkthrough shows the difference between a valid conflict and a safe arrangement before the timed rounds begin. Plan Aircraft, Divided Attention, and Estimate Distances and Directions are other FEAST I modules in the suite. A broader overview is available in FEAST Modules Explained.
